About Woven Smoke

“Woven Smoke” is a personal photography project by Central Illinois fine art photgrapher Craig Stocks.  The bulk of the creative work is done using Photoshop where  images of indivisual wisps of smoke are shaped and applied in layers to create the effect of wispy, semi-transparent layers of clothing.

The “Fine Art Nude” series is much more abstract. Most are done in black and white.  The goal is to explore how light and shadow interacts with form and texture. The light comes from moving the beam of  a blinking LED flashlight over model during a long exposure, so there’s a great deal of uncertainty with each shot. No two frames are ever alike.

NSFW Warning: The images on the “Woven Smoke Photos” and “Fine Art Nudes” pages contain nudity and are Not Safe For Work.

“Craig is a great photographer to work with! He’s very professional, polite, and very skilled. I always feel comfortable and at ease shooting with him. He has some rad concepts of his own (like the Woven Smoke series we’re working on) as well as working with the model for what they want to shoot. I loved shooting with him the two times I have and am excited for a bunch more!”  –  December

“Had an amazing shoot with Craig Stocks, he’s very patient and makes you feel completely comfortable, he listens when you have ideas and is very professional”  –  Tourmaline
“I loved working with you. You are truly professional and I felt very comfortable around you; even under nude, cold barn circumstances! Best of wishes with 2013! I would definitely work with you again.” – Tracey
